We’re excited to officially announce our Summer Show Season — featuring some of our most exciting themes yet, with opportunities for kids, teens, AND adults to get on stage and perform live.
Since its founding in 2002, Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has become one of the most iconic live music experiences in the world, known for its eclectic lineups, vibrant community, and unforgettable performances. Blending rock, indie, hip-hop, electronic, and jam bands, Bonnaroo has created a space where legendary artists and rising stars share the same stage, delivering marathon sets and once-in-a-lifetime collaborations.
Over the years, Bonnaroo has featured powerhouse performances from artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, and Post Malone, alongside jam-band legends such as Phish, Widespread Panic, The String Cheese Incident, and My Morning Jacket. These artists have helped define the festival’s signature sound — one that celebrates musical diversity, improvisation, and high-energy live performance.
Students who take the stage in the Bonnaroo show will explore a wide range of styles and techniques, from groove-driven rock and genre-blending pop to extended jams and improvisation. Performers will develop strong ensemble skills, stage presence, and the ability to adapt across multiple musical styles — all while capturing the spirit of a true festival performance.
A perfect show for versatile musicians who want to expand their musical horizons, challenge themselves across genres, and experience the energy of one of the greatest music festivals in the world.
Rock & Grohl (aka The Dave Grohl Show) is a killer show that covers quite a lot of musical ground on all instruments, featuring Grohl’s work with Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Queens Of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Probot, and more. This music is centered in the Hard Rock aesthetic but ranges from Grunge to Punk to Metal to Prog. Best known for his work in Foo Fighters and Nirvana, Dave Grohl is unanimously admired throughout the entertainment industry and continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the modern music scene. The Rock & Grohl show is ideal for guitarists of every experience level, in that it encompasses a wide range of skills and techniques - from Nirvana’s rhythmic yet aggressive strumming to the Foo Fighters’ melodic and driving octaves to Queens of The Stone Age’s heavy but quirky leads and solos. Dave Grohl is especially well-known for his prowess behind the kit throughout his career, making this show a favorite for drummers. For vocalists, Foo Fighters songs provide great examples of the belting and chest voice techniques, and intermediate vocalists will be challenged by frequent dynamic changes and two-part harmonies.
Easy Listening. Dad Rock. The West Coast Sound. Whatever nomenclature you choose, Yacht Rock music has survived the test of time and has made an explosive, full-steam-ahead resurgence in today’s popular music. Mostly emerging from the late 70s to early 80s, Yacht Rock’s mellow moods and relaxing vibes overshadow the sublime musicianship and songwriting skills of artists like Steely Dan, Toto, Hall and Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Carole King, and many more. Steeped in jazz, R&B, and dense harmony theory, these songs feature collaborations between some of the best studio musicians in history. These enduring songs will surprise and challenge even the most advanced SoR student. There are multi-layered vocal harmonies for singers, jazz-inspired guitar parts and solos, legendary grooves for bassists and drummers, and intricate keyboard parts utilizing what were, at the time, innovative electric pianos and synthesizers. This is one of the most challenging shows in the School of Rock curriculum!
In the history of Rock music, there have been only a few artists that completely changed the way their instrument is played. Inspired by the great players of the 60’s, Eddie Van Halen revolutionized guitar playing in the late 70’s, setting the bar for generations to come and becoming one of the most emulated players of all time. His dazzling use of two hand tapping, lightning fast legato runs, and aggressive use of the whammy bar influenced virtually every guitar player to come after him. Following their smash debut album, Van Halen, which featured Eddie’s dazzling guitar solo “Eruption”, Van Halen went on to release a string of LPs, culminating in the commercially successful 1984. The release of 1984 included “Jump”, their biggest hit yet, that featured Eddie’s keyboard playing. The record featured other classic VH songs such as “Panama” and “Hot For Teacher”, which were also hugely popular on MTV. Students who are lucky enough to rock out in the Van Halen show will learn Alex Van Halen’s (Eddie’s brother) thunderous drumming, David Lee Roth’s over the top vocal performances, and Michael Anthony’s rock-solid bass playing and high vocal harmonies. A great show for ambitious guitar players and lovers of catchy yet challenging Hard Rock anthems.
The Modern Metal show traces the evolution of metal music from the turn of the century to the present day, and focuses on bands who kept the virtuosic spirit of metal alive while incorporating more contemporary techniques into their sound, such as an emphasis on melody and harmony, and modern studio production. Artists such as Disturbed and Slipknot rose to prominence with the popularity of Nu-Metal, while Metalcore bands such as Killswitch Engage and The Dillinger Escape Plan brought the genre into the 2010s. The Modern Metal show will celebrate this next generation of metal artists - including Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Baroness, Gojira, System of a Down, Lamb of God, Mastodon, and more! This is a super challenging show for all instruments, as the speed and precision of this music requires quite a bit of proficiency to master.
This session of our Adult Band program is built specifically for experienced adult musicians who are ready to step into a serious band environment. If you’ve played in bands before, studied your instrument, or simply know your way around your gear and your role — this is for you.
This is not a beginner program. We’re focusing on musicians who can learn parts independently, come prepared, and contribute to a tight, performance-ready group.
Each week, you’ll rehearse with a band of like-minded players, working through a curated setlist of classic and modern rock that pushes musicianship, dynamics, and stage presence. Rehearsals move at a focused, efficient pace — designed to feel like a real working band, not a classroom.
Led by our professional instructors, this experience is collaborative, challenging, and ultimately performance-driven — all leading up to a live show at a real venue.
Please note: An audition or skill assessment may be required to ensure the right fit and to build the strongest possible band.
This program is ideal for adults who: 🎸 Have solid playing experience and want to level up 🎤 Are comfortable learning material on their own 🥁 Miss being in a real band environment 🎶 Are ready to commit to rehearsals and a live performance
If you’re looking for something casual, this isn’t it. If you’re ready to lock in, push yourself, and play at a high level — this is your band.
